CORNELIANUM - SANGIOVESE SUPERIORE DI ROMAGNA RISERVA D.O.C.
ORIGINI - NON CANCELLARE MAI QUESTA SEZIONE |
|
Coriano seems to derive its name from the fundus Cornelianus, the vast estate of the noble family Corneli possessed here. Suited to agriculture since Roman times, the corianese territory was defined by Raffaele Adimari, in 1616, “so vague, good, pleasant and fruitful that you cannot want more”. With the ancient name of Coriano, and in honour of the noble gens who first experienced the fertility of its land, Santini wanted to call this reserve not less noble than Sangiovese one. |

Climate and vintage
CLIMA ANNATA - NON CANCELLARE MAI QUESTA SEZIONE |

In line with the progressive increase in the presence of the bulkier African bubble of 2007, the year of 2008 is part of a trend of phase tends to wet and humid as those found in the months of May and June to those who join us in the months of July and August. This transforms our vineyards in horses until the underlying clay provide water then lean panting foals in the last part of physiological cycle. The twenty millimeters of rain fell without warning after August the 20th are allowed in this vintage hot to harvest in mid September and the Sangiovese that is not so far from the norm. |

Cornelium 2008 is still the expression of the two Sangiovese more present in the estate. In different percentages on the one hand they provide a plot and on the other a sustained aromatic respectable kit. The long maceration, 23-24 days, after fermentation are the hallmark of the first part of winemaking, where we try to extract the best raw material. The refinement of this reserve for 2008 reaffirms the use of 70% Tonneaux and the same percentage of wood used on the new. The whole aging is about 18 months; 12 of barrels and 6 of bottles. |

We were saying: balance between bone and aromatic freshness. Of course, powerful muscles of a sumo wrestler is another thing. Here is 2008 Cornelianum looks more like an elegant brim of a gymnast on the ring. Of course that’s how we like Sangiovese; even in the restricted version, long-lasting, fragrant and tasty.
It is always easy to combine it with grilled meats. With a Adriatic coast and country herbs of Osteria del Vizio.
